WATCH: UKRI programme director launches iiCON2

 

iiCON Phase 2 has recently launched, supported by a £6 million grant from UK Research and Innovation’s Local Innovation Partnerships Fund 💡

This will enable iiCON to continue to accelerate world-leading infection R&D from our base in the Liverpool City Region.

➡️ iiCON’s second phase will see it develop a permanent, globally-facing Liverpool City Region R&D hub – focused on six pioneering R&D platforms, including the Liverpool Accelerate Laboratory offering specialist support to industry to fast-track the discovery and development of drugs, diagnostics, and vaccines.

➡️ The new LIPF funding has generated £9.25 million of private funding already with a minimum projected level of private investment of £75 million by 2033.

➡️ The investment follows iiCON’s standout growth since 2020: securing £260 million investment, creating 770 jobs, and accelerating 36 new products to market.
